The Universal Ethnography Museum

The “Franz Binder” Universal Ethnography Museum in the small Square of Sibiu owns in its collection a mummy with a sarcophagus of over 2000 years old. The piece, donated in 1907 by Consul Hermann von Hannenheim, sits in an honoured place alongside bows and arrows, quivers, vases, jewels, manlike statues, coins and many other objects that have been taken as a souvenir by the tireless traveller and merchant Franz Binder. Other such valuable “souvenirs” gathered from every corner of the world arrived at the museum thanks to the generosity of the passionate explorers or collectors.
