The Red Pit

It looks like a reddish canyon lost in the timbered peaks of Padis-Scarisoara Mountains (Bihor county, near Vartop village): it is the Rusty Pit, a massive erosion of quartzites and clay, created by flashy streams. The natural monument, with particular colours, has a diameter of 600 meters and a depth of 100 meters. O geologic structure just as spectacular can be found near Sebes (Alba county), where a tall clay and slate wall is sculpted by waters into a unique lacing: The Red Pit.
